Summary
What we love most about Seton is the Christ-centered foundation in everything. Each lesson not only teaches facts but also forms the soul.1. What do you love most about homeschooling?
What I love most about homeschooling is the time it gives us as a family to grow together, not just academically, but spiritually, emotionally, and creatively. We begin our days in prayer, center our learning around our faith, and have the freedom to explore each child’s interests in a meaningful way. Homeschooling allows us to nurture our children’s hearts and minds with love, patience, and purpose.
It’s a lifestyle that strengthens our family bond and reminds us daily of God’s presence in all we do.
2. What inspired you to begin homeschooling?
I was homeschooled for a few years in first, third, and fourth grade with Seton Home Study School while I was professionally performing ballet in Chicago. The balance of homeschooling with our family schedule worked best for our family. So naturally, when it came time for us to choose a homeschool program, we thought of Seton first.
We were inspired to homeschool through prayerful reflection and the desire to give our children a Christ-centered education that nurtures their gifts, honors their pace, and deepens our family connection.
We wanted learning to be joyful, intentional, and filled with the values we hold dear. Watching our children thrive in a setting where their faith and imagination could grow side by side confirmed this calling. The flexibility, peace, and purpose that homeschooling brought to our home affirmed that this path was right for us.
3. What have you found to be the greatest benefit of homeschooling?
The greatest benefit has been the freedom to cultivate each child’s God-given gifts while keeping our faith at the center of everything we do. Whether it’s writing a book together, launching a family YouTube channel, spending extra time on a subject they love, or at the library, homeschooling gives us the space to say “yes” to learning that is rich, relevant, and rooted in love.
We’ve seen our children gain confidence, comfortability, and a deep sense of purpose because they’re learning in an environment where they are spending one-on-one quality time learning.
4. How has homeschooling allowed your child to develop their potential?
Homeschooling has given our children the time, encouragement, and creative space to explore their talents in unique ways. They wrote and published their first book, Three Peas in a Pod, at just five and seven years old and launched a YouTube channel with a feature called Seeds of Change, where they share their adventures and feature stories of others making a positive impact.
These accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible in a traditional setting. Homeschooling lets their creativity flourish and their faith guide them, helping them become who God created them to be.
5. Why did you choose Seton Home Study School?
Having done it myself, I was already familiar with the program, so it was easy to choose Seton. It aligns perfectly with our Catholic faith, educational values, and commitment to academic excellence. We are drawn to Seton’s rich, classical curriculum and its integration of Catholic teaching into every subject.
Knowing our children are learning with a strong foundation in both virtue and knowledge gives us great peace. Seton’s structure also provides the flexibility we need for creative family projects while offering the support and accountability that keeps us on track.
6. What do you love most about Seton Home Study School?
What we love most about Seton is the Christ-centered foundation in everything—from literature to science, from art to history. Each lesson not only teaches facts but also forms the soul.
The materials are beautifully and traditionally written, thoughtfully structured, and allow our children to encounter truth, beauty, and goodness in every subject. The support from Seton’s team is also wonderful—they truly care about families and walk this journey alongside us.
It feels like being part of a larger mission, and we are grateful for that.
