Summary
School-year Extensions, Deadlines, More Spanish, Middle Grades Fee, SAT Registration: answers about these and more from your Seton Counselors. Can I get a school-year extension, and how much would it cost?
A 6-month extension is available, and you may do that twice. Only two extensions are permitted. If more time is needed after that, the student would have to be re-enrolled in the course. A full grade-level extension is $75, but if you need to extend one course, it’s $25.
Here’s a tip: you can avoid the fee by enrolling in the next grade before finishing the current one. Your current grade will be automatically extended while you are enrolled in the next grade. Your current grade’s enrollment will remain active, and you will be able to take tests and submit work in both grades.
We plan to re-enroll in the fall, but I want to order my books now to get organized. Is there a deadline for when they have to start submitting work?
There’s no deadline for when they have to begin, but you do have a time limit for when they have to finish: 14 months for grades 2-12 and 24 months for Pre-K-1st grade.
To get the most time for your enrollment, you can indicate a later start date on the enrollment form.
If you plan to start in the fall, you can enroll now if you wish, and add a comment that you won’t begin until the date you choose. You can extend the start date by up to 4 months.
Look for the comment box on the Household Information tab. Just put a message there stating that you want the start date to be on X date, and we will adjust it. Leave the shipping date as is, and we’ll ship right away.
Note that, after June 1, all summer enrollments automatically get a start date of September 1.
I want to register my daughter for the SAT. They are asking, what state is Seton Home School in.
We are located in Front Royal, Virginia.
If you are an enrolled family and she is taking the test, you can use our school code, which is 470902.
Are there deadlines to submit our schoolwork?
The lesson plans are designed to be completed in 36 weeks, but we usually give you 14 months to complete the work. If you need longer, you can get a 6-month extension, with a second extension available if needed.
But we have no internal deadlines—just the final deadline by which all the work needs to be turned in.

My daughter has done Spanish I (Spanish is Fun) with Seton in 10th grade. Will she be able to complete three years of Spanish before graduation?
Yes, Seton provides three years of traditional, book-based Spanish using books from the same publisher, Perfection Learning.
Although the book for Spanish II, Spanish: Two Years, is more intense than Spanish Is Fun, the lesson plan presents the book in a way that allows a good deal of review of basic grammar and vocabulary concepts. This method will give your student a solid foundation and understanding of the language.
I recommend following the lesson plan rigorously and completing the included quizzes to help your daughter immerse herself in the grammar and vocabulary. When she gets to each of the eight tests (two per quarter), she should not be stressed about what the tests require.
Spanish III (using Spanish: Three Years) has a similar learning format as Spanish II, so she will be well acquainted with how the curriculum is presented and how to study for the tests. She can take Spanish III in 12th grade.

On my online enrollment, why am I seeing a $20 Middle Grades Fee for my 4th grader?
To make enrollment costs fair for all families, a fee is added as the books included with higher grades become more expensive to print or purchase. The fee for middle school (grades 4-6) is $20, and for junior high (grades 7-8), it is $75.
